Here we are – Saturday again. The week does fly, doesn’t it?

Today, it’s a free hand embroidery pattern for you – I’m calling it Funburst!

Funburst Hand Embroidery Pattern

This is another one of those hand embroidery patterns with lots and lots of possibilities, but I was thinking of it in terms of shisha embroidery, which we began to cover yesterday. I suppose it’s all the dots… which would work well as small mirrors.

But there are other possibilities as well! Are you familiar, for example, with Jen Goodwin’s Embroidery? She effectively combines blackwork and goldwork into fantastic medallions. (She sells embroidery kits on her website, too – take a look at them!) Though I’ve not worked any of her kits, I really admire her work. And I’ve heard very positive things about her kits from other readers. So if you’re in the market…

But back to Funburst. My first thought was shisha, because that’s what I’ve been preparing for tutorials. Shisha, braids stitches, some decorative line stitches. I picture bright colors, gold, mirrors. Maybe on the front of a bag? Or the top of a square box?

Whatever you do with it, I hope it’s fun!
