My first task this morning was to sort through the comments on the book give-away I’ve been running this week and to randomly draw the names of two people who will receive brand spankin’ new copies of Yvette Stanton’s latest book, Sardinian Knotted Embroidery.

Any type of counted work has always seemed like a challenge to me. My having traveled in several foreign countries years ago I was able to purchase quality even count fabrics and have always enjoyed the variety of stitches one can do …with patience. The Sardinian Knotted Embroidery offers yet one more challenge and one I have tried, however feel it needs practice as well. Would love the opportunity to have this specialized book to learn more.

Now that I have a home full of counted cross stitch items that I have made over the past 50 years….(yes! 50 years!), I would like to try some new stitching. I am passionate about black-work and have made several wonderful biscornu, needle books and scissor holders. I am completely new to Sardinian knotted embroidery and this book will show me how to add another branch to my stitchery tree. And to make matters better, I have both eyes in perfect condition now that the cataracts have been removed. You youngsters out there…..watch out! I’m a grandma who will never stop stitching! The projects in this book are just perfect for me.

I’m holing up in the studio today. There’s just something about 110-degree weather with high humidity that makes me want to lurk indoors. I’ll be finishing some stitch samples for an upcoming magazine article (more on that later), and doing all the typical Saturday organization, clean up, and web work. Yes, I have high hopes that it will be a productive day!

Whether or not it will turn out that way in the end is a Different Question…
