Good morning and a Happy Sunday all around!
I’m popping up here on Sunday (somewhat unusual) to pass along some embroidery news so that you can plan ahead to take advantage of it, if you’re interested.
You might recall that, earlier this year, I mentioned the Lady Anne’s Needlework Retreat going on in the UK (this coming week), hosted by Phillipa Turnbull and The Crewel Work Company.
One of their planned visits is to Muncaster Castle, on the west coast of the English Lake District. Muncaster is home to the Pennington family, who have collected over the years (over the centuries, really) an impressive array of textiles that are seldom seen by the public.
On Wednesday, October 1st, Philippa will be unveiling and talking about some of the hidden embroidery treasures at Muncaster, as part of her needlework tour.
Normally, a lecture on a needlework tour several thousand miles away wouldn’t really have much to do with the rest of us who aren’t on the tour, would it?
But guess what? They’ll be live-streaming the viewing of the embroideries and the lecture straight from Muncaster this Wednesday, October 1st.
Live Stream Viewing Times
The event is planned for between 10:00 am – 12:30 pm (UK time), which places it at a rather awkward viewing time for some of us. In the US, that’s from 5:00 – 7:30 am on the East Coast (Boston), 2:00 – 4:30 am on the West Coast (San Francisco), and 4:00 – 6:30 am here in the middle (Kansas).
In Australia, some of you will have prime time viewing hours – 7:00 – 9:30 pm in Sydney, for example.
The event probably won’t last the whole 2.5 hours, but it will take place during that time frame.
Where to Watch
If the technological details work out, I’ll embed the live stream video here on Needle ‘n Thread. If the logistics don’t quite work out (with that time zone thing going on!), I’ll at least let you know ahead of time where you can view the event online, so you can bookmark it and watch it live.
I’m hoping that a recording will be made simultaneously, so that the event can be viewed conveniently for those not able to tune in during the wee hours.
Right now, those are all the details I have for you, but I’ll share further details with you this Tuesday.
