Remember my insistence last week that you need more thread? (Embroidery thread, of course!)

Well, today, two people are going to get more thread, and that’s pretty exciting!

The question is, is it you? I know, I know! I wish it could be every single one of you, but alas…

So, this morning, the winners of last week’s Colour Complements thread give-away, and some newsy stuff, too.

Colour Complements Embroidery Threads

The two winners of last week’s give-away, courtesy of Colour Complements, get to choose five skeins of needlework thread from the Colour Complements shop, to add to their stash or stitch up into something fabulous right away. Just think of all the project possibilities with all those wonderful colors!

If you happened to pick up your copy of Stitch Sampler Alphabet yesterday, you might discover that the #12 perle cottons at Colour Complements would make a good substitution for some of the threads used in the alphabet. If you like over-dyed threads, the stitch combinations in Stitch Sampler Alphabet would be a fun way to integrate them into your projects!

Thread Winners

I asked what your favorite colors were to work with in embroidery, and here are the winners (drawn randomly) and their answers:

Scarlet Hobbs: PINK and Brown and Green. I am fascinated by the variety of greens in the landscape/trees and with my favorite pink in there i can make pink flowering plants and trees with that combination.

and

Paul from Seattle: When I go to choose colors for just stitching, I always seem to gravitate toward mid-to-dark greens, dark yellow/golds and deep reds, so those would be my three choices. I prefer deeply saturated colors to build a base on; then, I can embellish with lighter shades, metallic threads, beads, etc. Thanks for all the excellent inspiration!

Congratulations, you two!

If you could drop me a line with your information, I’ll put you in touch with the folks at Colour Complements and you can go thread shopping!

The Newsy Bits

First, thanks heaps and heaps to those of you who purchased Stitch Sampler Alphabet upon its release yesterday and who sent in such enthusiastic reports! I’m So Very Happy you like the e-book! Your support goes an incredibly long way to make Needle ‘n Thread possible, and I can’t really thank you enough!

Later this week, some thread talk on a completely different level. I’m fiddling with an embroidery floss that has me a little baffled. I’m going to show it to you, get your feedback if you’ve tried it (it’s relatively new on the market), and tell you why it makes me scratch my head in semi-bewilderment.

With the Stitch Sampler Alphabet out, you can bet I’m going to be checking more items off my To Do list soon. I’ll be sharing some project updates with you in the coming days, too!

Hope you have a wonderful day!
